When “Walking Art” by Sandals World Was Presented to Celebrate Local Craft and Culture” northern province of Mae Hong Son, often known as The City of Three Mists, has long been surrounded by nature and enriched by the traditions of its ethnic communities.So unique character was beautifully showcased during the cultural event “Mae Hong Son: Yorn Withee Din Daen Chartphan” (Mae Hong Son: Cultural Pathways of Ethnic Harmony), which was held at Nong Chong Kham Public Park.

The event was organized to promote cultural tourism and to encourage sustainable development through art, craftsmanship, and community-based creativity.

Ethnic Traditions Were Transformed into Modern Inspirations

Throughout the event, local ethnic groups such as Tai Yai, Karen, Lahu, Hmong, Pa-O, and Yunnan Chinese were invited to exhibit their cultural heritage through various handmade works from woven fabrics and wooden crafts to jewelry and bamboo items.Special attention was drawn to the “Craft of 5F” project, which was initiated to modernize traditional crafts of Mae Hong Son and to make them more relevant to contemporary lifestyles, while still preserving their authentic cultural identity.

The Phathor Witthaya Saimoon booth was widely admired for its collection of handwoven fabrics and ethnic-inspired fashion.Traditional materials were redesigned into stylish, everyday wear such as minimal earth-toned outfits and handmade accessories, all of which were created by local artisans using eco-friendly materials

Artistic Handmade Sandals Were Introduced as “Walking Art”

A highlight of the event was the presentation of handmade sandals from Sandals World and its partner communities.These sandals were introduced under the concept that footwear can be more than just something to wear.Instead, it can be a form of art that expresses identity and creativity.

วิถีชาติพันธุ์ สู่แรงบันดาลใจแห่งหัตถศิลป์

ภายในงาน ได้รวมกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์หลายเผ่าจากทั่วจังหวัดแม่ฮ่องสอน ทั้งไทใหญ่ กะเหรี่ยง ลาหู่ ม้ง ปะโอ และจีนยูนนาน มาร่วมจัดแสดงของดีประจำถิ่น ทั้งผ้าทอ เครื่องประดับ งานไม้ และของใช้ที่ทำจากภูมิปัญญาชาวบ้านแต่ที่พิเศษสุดในปีนี้ คือการเปิดพื้นที่ให้กับกลุ่มชุมชนที่พัฒนา หัตถศิลป์ถิ่นฮ่องสอน (Craft of 5F) ซึ่งมุ่งเน้นการต่อยอดศิลปะให้เข้ากับยุคสมัยใหม่จาก “ของพื้นบ้าน” กลายเป็น “สินค้าทันสมัย” ที่ยังคงกลิ่นอายของวัฒนธรรมไว้อย่างครบถ้วน บูธ ผ้าทอวิทยาทรายมูล คือหนึ่งในจุดไฮไลต์ของงาน ที่ดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยวทั้งไทยและต่างชาติด้วยผ้าทอประจำชุมชนที่ถูกออกแบบให้ใส่ได้ทุกโอกาส มีทั้งเสื้อผ้าสไตล์มินิมอลสีเอิร์ธโทน และเครื่องประดับที่ทำจากวัสดุธรรมชาติ ฝีมือของชาวบ้านแท้ ๆ ที่ใช้เวลาบรรจงสร้างแต่ละชิ้นขึ้นมา
